Welcome to TKY Medical Fraternity at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston UTMB is one of the only medical schools in the nation with an active professional fraternity system. Why is this important? Fraternities offer a unique and positive living experience for students as they struggle with the sometimes isolating and overwhelming pressures of medical school. Why is TKY the best fraternity at UTMB? Simple:

• We are the most laid-back, easy-going, diverse bunch of guys you'll ever meet.

• Ask any UTMB student, we have the BEST CHEF at UTMB! A former cruise ship chef with more recipes than your mom, bachelor life has never been so good.

• Privately owned: what we say goes, we have no boss and no rules but our own. University owned fraternities are subject to significant university rules and fines, which are passed on to members in the form of less freedom and higher rent. School owned fraternity houses = parking lots in 5 years if the administration has their way.

• Worried that Fraternity life will hurt your grades? The exact opposite holds true for many of us. We have several 3rd and 4th year AOA students, and most of our 1st and 2nd years are in the top portions of their class. TKY Step 1 USMLE scores are consistently above the UTMB and national averages, with the in-house member average being > 240 for 3 years straight. A true testament to how valuable TKY can be to your education.

• Free parking for all members of the Fraternity within one block of UTMB (a seriously hot commodity). Five minute walk from school. You will come to appreciate being able to wake up 10 minutes before class and still be on time.

• Monthly house meetings with LOTS of entertainment

• Old notes, books, and guidance of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year students plus in-house library of medical texts, references, and review books. Not to mention an internet connected house computer, copy machine, and microscope with slides. • Intramural sports - we do 'em all - 2004 Dodgeball, 2000 Soccer Champs, 2000 Basketball champs, 2004 Ultimate Frisbee champs and the infamous freshman "Brown Trout" basketball team with their perfect 0-8 legacy.

• Extensive and active alumni network (many faculty at UTMB)

• Dues are $200 for all members each year.

• Rent: Most rooms $375 per month, all bills paid ($20 per month for premium HD cable box with DVR) and 9 meals per week. Compare our rent with ANY other housing option.
